
Salma Hayek Pinault born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jameson; September 2, 1966)[3][4][5[5] is a Mexican and American actor as well as film producer. She started her career in Mexico with starring roles in the telenovela Teresa (1989-1991) as also in the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) and for which she earned an Ariel Award nomination. She quickly made herself known in Hollywood through appearances in films such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) as well as Dogma (1999). Hayek's portrayal as painter Frida Kahlo in the biographical film Frida (2002), which she also co-produced and directed, was the first Mexican actress to be recognized for the Academy Award for Best Actress[6as well as earning her Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek was a part of the action-oriented Once Upon a Time in Mexico films in the following years and shifted her focus to producing.
